本研究為探討新聞議題的新聞文本分析，以大學多元入學之繁星計畫相關新聞文本為研究對象，此議題原本是一例行性的教育入學方案，但2008年卻爆發台中縣私立常春藤高中為增加錄取名額，逕自修改推薦學生在校成績弊案，事件的引爆是2008年3月24日有讀者向《蘋果日報》投訴，經由媒體大幅報導後，使得造假事件從初期的學校行政失誤，演變為學校行政不公、學生家長涉及利益輸送，使得學者專家、學生、家長、校長、教師等社會大眾紛紛加入事件的論述行列，甚至形成校方與教育部雙方在媒體上的爭執。
　　透過媒體文本的檢視，不同報別、不同消息來源，甚至不同議題生命週期階段皆有不同的文本詮釋，本研究企圖分析繁星計畫議題如何經由媒體的選擇、篩選過程而被進一步的描述與定義。在這其中，研究者整理出四個值得分析的研究價值：一、台灣主流報紙如何報導常春藤事件與繁星計畫；二、不同消息來源如何在此議題上作框架競爭；三、不同議題生命週期，報紙新聞框架是否產生變化；四、關於繁星計畫議題，民意與社會輿論如何呈現在台灣主流報紙上。
　　根據資料分析結果，有以下幾點研究發現：
１台灣主流報紙無論是在常春藤微調分數事件上或繁星計畫議題，皆以聯合報的報導則數最多，顯示聯合報相較於其他三家報紙更重視此議題，投入較多篇幅及記者編輯進行相關新聞的採訪與報導。
2新聞報導方式與報別間有顯著關聯，無論是繁星計劃議題或常春藤高中微調分數事件，四家報紙皆以「一般新聞」報導方式為主、其次為讀者投書；唯獨聯合報在繁星計畫議題採用較多「社論」、「特稿」與「讀者投書」之報導方式，而蘋果日報則完全採用「一般新聞」與「圖表」的報導方式。
3在繁星計畫議題上，最常使用的新聞主題為「常春藤高中造繁星計畫造假弊案」、其次為「弊案發生後的檢討」；至於在「新聞框架」方面，在繁星計畫議題中，最主要的新聞框架為「教育政策變革」、其次為「繁星衍生問題」及「激勵人心個案」，而常春藤高中微調分數事件上，主要新聞框架為「懲處常春藤高中」、其次為「常春藤高中違法」。
4四報在繁星計畫議題中，最關注的新聞主題即為常春藤高中造假弊案，且四報將新聞框架聚焦於懲處常春藤高中；至於整體繁星計畫議題，媒體則將新聞框架聚焦於教育政策變革，顯示媒體仍傾向將繁星計畫視為教育政策，而將常春藤微調分數事件視為違法犯紀的社會事件。
5報導的消息來源方面，在繁星計畫議題中，最常使用的消息來源類型為政府、其次為大學及媒體；至於在常春藤微調分數事件上，最常使用的消息來源類型則為高中職、其次則為政府。換言之，官方消息來源仍是媒體最重要的消息來源。
6聯合報、中國時報及自由時報在報導方式與消息來源類型間有顯著關聯，在「一般新聞+圖表」的報導方式上，四報皆以政府為主要消息來源類型，在「社論+特稿+讀者投書」報導方式上，聯合報與中國時報的主要消息來源皆為高中職。
7由資料分析可知，在繁星計畫議題的生命週期內，常春藤高中微調分數弊案爆發後，新聞報導量就呈現急速上升的陡坡狀態，並在2008年4月12日帶教育部對常春藤高中祭出懲處後，新聞報導的成長曲線就漸趨緩和，甚至呈現遞減狀態。由此顯示，繁星計劃議題在日常生活的社會場域中，必須與其他議題競爭、相互爭取出現在媒體版面上的機會。
8透過van Dijk的論述結構分析，檢視三報的繁星計畫新聞論述結構發現，不同意見陳述者在此議題中皆處於不同「身分」，其所處的「發言位置」也大相逕庭，因此會進而影響其對於繁星計畫利弊、正負向態度的呈現。
　　其中聯合報企圖站在公正第三者角度落實監督政府政策的媒介第四權，除了批判常春藤高中的違法做法外，還關照到遭成績做假排擠的「無名氏」星星，以及參與繁星計畫大學的投機心態，甚至回歸討論教育公平誠實的基本方針。
　　自由時報在輿論的採納上呈現較多元開放的論述態度，甚至透過事件主體即繁星學生採第一人稱的論述立場，表示其支持繁星計畫的態度；然而在此種「感性」訴求風格下，卻也暴露出一種「失焦」的危險。
　　中國時報將繁星議題的討論主旨放在人才回流等上層問題，但此處會出現主體錯置的問題，畢竟教育只是影響人才回流的其中一環，其中還包括許多社會環境、時代背景的因素，因此這樣的論述框架若扣聯在繁星計畫議題上，易使討論的焦點更加模糊。
