    • 此詮釋報告以百老匯音樂劇《芝加哥》中之薇爾瑪角色作為角色分析與探討。
    此詮釋分析分為六個章節。首章，講述研究動機以及研究方法與研究架構。第二章為《芝加哥》音樂劇的劇本背景探究，此章分為三節，第一節以劇本起源到電影改編做探討；第二節為論述五零年代的社會現象，和美國一直以來的槍支暴力問題；第三節是《芝加哥》中的獨特之處，包括舞臺的特色、舞蹈設計及音樂風格的使用。第三節為劇本分析，此章分為三節。第一節介紹《芝加哥》中的角色簡介；第二節為劇本大綱；以及第三節的劇本結構與架構分析。第四章為《芝加哥》薇爾瑪凱莉角色分析，蓋括角色外在形象、角色內在動機、模擬一份角色日記，做深入的分析及研究，讓角色更立體鮮明。第五章為本詮釋報告的主題，筆者挑選七首劇中薇爾瑪演唱的曲目，加以分析歌曲中角色之潛台詞、內在情緒、外在表演以及歌曲的曲式分析。第六章為總結論文各章節之論述，並期許筆者未來能在舞台上呈現出充滿戲劇性且情感豐沛的薇爾瑪凱莉。

    This interpretation report focuses on Velma Kelly from the Broadway musical, Chicago. It interprets and discusses the character of Velma Kelly.
    The interpretation is divided into six chapters. In the first chapter, it discusses the motive for the study, the study methods, and the structure of the study. The second chapter discusses the background of the musical Chicago. This chapter is divided into three sections. Section one discusses how the script originated and its eventual movie adoption. Section two discusses the social situation in 1950s America and the ever-present gun issue. Section three talks about the unique parts of Chicago, such as the stage design and use of music. The third chapter is an analysis of the script divided into three sections. Section one is a simple introduction of the characters in Chicago. Section two is a summary of the script and storyline. Section three is an analysis of the structure of the script. Chapter four is an analysis of the character Velma Kelly. It covers the appearance of the character, her motives, and a simulated character diary to do deep analysis of the character and depict the characteristics of Velma more vividly. Chapter five is the main part of the interpretation report. The researcher chooses seven songs that Velma sings in the musical and analyzes the diction of the lyrics, the inner emotions of the character, the outward actions/body language of the character, and musical analysis of the songs themselves. Chapter six is the conclusion of the paper and its each individual chapter. The last chapter also includes the hope that the research student will be able to present a Velma Kelly full of character and emotion on stage in the future.
