本研究從大學教師教學的角度出發，首先了解國內外電子教科書出版的情形，接著探討國內大學教師使用電子教科書之現況、問題，以及對教科書數位化之需求與所期望的功能，最後則討論大學教師對於國外教科書出版社販售電子教科書之商業模式的看法。

本研究之研究方法為訪談法，採取立意抽樣，透過觀察教師之個人教學網站，選取具有電子教科書使用經驗者做為訪談對象，總計訪談十位大學教師。

研究發現，大學教師所使用的電子教科書多為免付費即可取用的教科書完整內容檔案以及網路上之文章與書籍的全文；大學教師獲知電子教科書的管道多元，以透過網路搜尋引擎自行查找為主；大學教師並不常使用圖書館所提供的電子書館藏；電子教科書之使用方式與紙本教科書並無不同，且未影響到教師的教學方式。除了圖表之數位化以外，目前大學教師並無教科書數位化之需求。電子教科書若僅為紙本教科書的數位版本，對教師並不具有吸引力，需發揮紙本教科書所無法達成的效果。教師對商業模式的看法中，以價格為首要課題，教師們普遍認為電子教科書需比紙本教科書便宜，然而合理的定價方式尚未有定論，值得進行更深入的研究。
