本研究是採用Hipparcos星表，以500 pc內的O、B星做為對象，分析其位置的空間分布和速度的分布，並且和Guillout et al.（1998）所提出古德帶模式相互比較，來探討古德帶（Gould Belt）可能呈現的結構。
首先，把條件不適合的O、B星刪除，並且對各種不同情況做討論，並且對每一顆符合條件的O、B星畫出以太陽為中心的二維空間分布圖，並以100 pc為間距，再畫出每個區間的空間分布圖。再利用300 pc的空間分布圖和前面所提及的模式做比較，發現古德帶的環狀結構可能比模式所推測的還要近似盤狀。
下一步把符合條件的徑向速度資料換算成空間速度分布，並且和前面的模式相比較之下，換算出古德帶相較於銀河盤面的傾角和其長軸的銀經方向，發現其值分別為18度及33.9度。相比較之下，此結果和前人所得到的結果相近，表示古德帶的環狀（ring）結構相近於前人所推測之構造。
