舞台上表演的進行，不管是平鋪直敘、倒敘，往往是述說一個故事的歷程。「英雄旅程」概念，涵蓋幾乎所有的神話故事，舉凡小說、電影、戲劇裡所有的故事情節本質，甚至與我們的人生都有密切的相關性，此相關性並非角色的具體經驗，而是角色在經歷故事中的一切時帶給內心及精神的影響力，這樣的影響造成了角色心境、個性、人格、情感、甚至行為的轉變。
2004年果陀劇場的音樂劇《跑路天使》的劇情主軸，在於女主角戴安娜的成長以及環境與之互動下的轉變。本論文便以《跑路天使》中的戴安娜一角為例，用克里斯多夫．佛格勒(Christopher Vogler)所闡述的「英雄旅程」中的十二個階段，來剖析戴安娜在劇中遇上歷險、迎上歷險、得到幫助、尋找同伴、樹立敵人、直搗絕境、克服生死、獲得獎賞、回歸原處、帶回至寶等等的歷程。
透過此研究有助於表演者更快的尋找到角色的外在行為以及內在情感的轉換，也讓表演者能更生動的把劇中所有角色之間的關係和互動真實地刻畫出來，爾後再挑出戴安娜劇中的其中七首歌曲—《勇敢醒來》、《天知道》、《神聖的地方》、《我心是海洋》、《我的弟兄姐妹》、《愛像一首歌》、《愛》，代表七個轉換中的里程碑，來分析音樂和歌詞並探討詮釋方法。

No matter in straight forward or cut back way to tell a story, the performances on stage always tells a course of story. The concept of “Hero’s Journey” covers almost all the storylines of mythical stories which could be found in novels, movies and theater drama. This concept even has a strong connection with our life. This connection not lies in the experiences that the characters go through; but it is in the influence brought by the inner and spiritual side of these characters under such experience. This kind of influence causes the characters change in their mindset, personality, emotion, and even the way they act.
The musical “Running angels” produced by the Godot Theatre Company in 2004 mainly narrates the change and grow-up of the heroine, Diana under her environment with which she interact. This thesis takes Diana as example, by means of the twelve phases in the concept of “Hero’s Journey” brought up by Christopher Vogler to analyze the different phases Diana goes through, including encountering the adventure, taking the challenge, obtaining help, seeking for companion, provoking enemy, advancing the destination bravely, escaping from the death point, receiving the prizes, returning to the original place, and bringing back the treasure.
This research helps performer to look into the characters of their outer behavior and inner emotion changes more deeply and to express more vividly the interaction and relationship of the main character when they interact with other characters in the drama. Part of the thesis also analyze the lyrics and music of the seven songs in “Running Angels” --〈勇敢醒來〉(Awake Bravely),〈天知道〉(God Knows),〈神聖的地方〉(The holy Place),〈我心是海洋〉(My Heart Is Like The Ocean),〈我的弟兄姐妹〉(My Brothers And Sisters),〈愛像一首歌〉(Love Is Just Like A Song) ,〈愛〉(Love) which represents the milestones in the seven transition points in this story.
