STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) via hands-on learning and Maker movement has been paid attention in educational settings, for instance, science and technology contests (STC). However, there are some factors influence individuals to perform in STC, such as worries while facing STC, and how individual parental style influence individual worries is interested in this study. Therefore, this study aims to explore the effectiveness of students participated in a STC, named PowerTech, which asked participants making minatures in the moring and compete with relay racing and tug of war in the afternoon to avoid parents put hands in. That is expected that parental style with the degree of Mammy’s babys will give participants less hands-on opportunity that consequently influece on their hands-on performance on the spot. The questionnaire-survey adopted the purposive sampling method, and uses SPSS 22 and AMOS 22 to confirm the hypotheses by the confirmatory analysis method. According to the result, Mammy’s babys was positively correlated to their worry about ability inadequacy, team performance, problem out of control, and other teams’ capabilties. And all those factors of worry were negatively correlated with their team performance. It implied that students who perceived higher Mammy’s baby of parental style, they might have low level of team performance in STC.
