The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among internet addiction tendency, resilience, and life adjustment of youths in Taiwan. This study adopts online questionnaire survey method. The 99 participants are youths between 12 to 23 years old who had experience in Internet use in the past year and more than 40 hours per week. The questionnaire contains personal background variable, Internet Addiction Test (IAT), Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale 10-Item (CD-RISC 10), and Life Adjustment Scale. SPSS statistical software is adopted, and the descriptive statistics, independent sample T test, oneway ANOVA, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis methods were used to conduct data analysis and hypothesis testing on the specific topic in this study. Major findings in this study are as follows:
1.There was a significant negative correlation between Internet addiction and resilience among youths. Significant negative correlation was also found in Internet addiction between life adjustment, psychological adjustment, and family adjustment. The resilience of youths had a significant positive correlation with life adjustment, psychological adjustment, and family adjustment.
2.Internet addiction tendency had a significant negative predictive effect on life adjustment, and psychological adjustment of youths. Resilience had a significant positive predictive effect on life adjustment, and psychological adjustment of youths.
3.The moderating effect of resilience between different Internet addiction tendency groups and life adjustment was significant among youths. The moderating effect of resilience between different Internet addiction tendency groups and physiological adjustment was significant among youths.
4.The mediating effect of resilience between Internet addiction and life adjustment was nonsignificant among youths. The mediating effect of resilience between Internet addiction tendency and physiological adjustment, psychological adjustment, family adjustment, social adjustment nonsignificant among youths either.
In the end, based on the findings of the present study, practical suggestions and research recommendations were made for parents, practical worker, as well as for future study.
