Purpose: Monitoring the physical fatigue of players can reduce the risk of injury and enhance their performance on the field. In recent years, accelerometer sensors are often used as monitoring equipment for physical activity. This study focuses on the fatigue changes during basketball sport. If the accelerometer can monitor the subtle changes of players after their fatigue, it will be helpful for players and coaches to track down player’s physical fatigue and adjust their arrangement and schedule. Methods: This study recruited 12 healthy men. Each participant was given a set of high intensity interval training activities which is similar to the condition of real basketball game. Researcher analyzed the data from accelerometer by using repeated-measures One-way ANOVA not only to compare the differences before and after fatigue, but also define the important index of fatigue. Result: The result indicated that lateral-wrist (left and right direction), anterior-posterior waist, lateral-waist (left and right direction), anterior-posterior ankle, lateral-ankle (left and right direction), vertical-ankle, and the ankle complex acceleration, these seven aspects have significant difference between different level of fatigue (0%、25%、50%~100%). Among these aspects, lateral-waist (left and right direction), anterior-posterior ankle, and lateral-ankle (left and right direction) have greater difference. However, the accelerometer on the ankle sometimes went beyond the range of the sensory area while the accelerometer on the waist did not have this issue. Conclusion: This study found that the lateral-waist (left and right direction) has the significant effect of distinguishing the level of fatigue, and will not be restricted by the range that the monitoring equipment adopted. Therefore, lateral -waist index can be used to evaluate the physical fatigue of male basketball players in the future.
