本研究在於探討台灣的蝎虎(Hemidactylus frenatus)族群內是否存在食物資源分配利用之現象。由南投縣草屯鎮市郊與宜蘭縣大湖地區的樣區每月採集蝎虎樣本,取其胃內所食之昆蟲,進行食物資源利用之分析。結果發現蝎虎利用的食物種類主要為節肢動物有鱗翅目、雙翅目、鞘翅目、半翅目、蜚蠊目、蛛形目與膜翅目。在環境食物豐沛的草屯地區,蝎虎不論在性別、體長與停棲高度皆存在食物資源分配利用區隔之現象。在草屯樣區雄蝎虎最常利用的食物為鱗翅目,相對重要指數為38.5,食性寬度為0.35、雌蝎虎最常利用的食物為雙翅目,相對重要指數為44.1,食性寬度為0.26,食性重疊度為0.90,隨著季節的改變在較冷的冬季皆以鱗翅目為主食,雄蝎虎食性寬度為0.16,雌蝎虎食性寬度為0.12,食性重疊度為0.96,在較暖的夏季雄蝎虎則以半翅目為主食,食性寬度為0.28、雌蝎虎則以雙翅目為主食,食性寬度為0.14,食性重疊度為0.84;體型大的蝎虎以鱗翅目利用最多,相對重要指數為52.3,食性寬度為0.28,體型中等與體型較小蝎虎偏好利用的種類為雙翅目,相對重要指數分別為56.8與44.8,食性寬度分別為0.24與0.28,大型與中型的食性重疊度為0.98,大型與小型的食性重疊度為0.92,中型與小型的食性重疊度為0.86;停棲高處的蝎虎最常利用的食物為雙翅目,相對重要指數為71.8,食性寬度為0.13,停棲中等高度的蝎虎最常利用的食物為鱗翅目,相對重要指數為60.6,食性寬度為0.22,停棲高度低的蝎虎最常利用的食物為半翅目,相對重要指數為45.9,食性寬度為0.31,停棲較高與停棲中等的食性重疊度為0.77,停棲較高與停棲較低的食性重疊度為0.68,停棲中等與停棲較低的食性重疊度為0.91。在大湖樣區由於環境昆蟲的種類與數量較少,不論在性別、體型與停棲高度上皆以鱗翅目為主要捕食對象。
