代表浪漫派後期國民樂派的重要音樂家暨演奏家之一的帕布洛‧薩拉撒特( Pablo de Sarasate, 1844-1908),其一生中多以演奏家的身分到歐洲及美洲各地表演,因此接觸到各種不同的社會背景以及多風貌的音樂表現。
談到西班牙音樂,選擇薩拉撒特的西班牙舞曲是一個再好不過的題材。以作曲者而言,因本身即兼具作曲家以及演奏家的身分,故更能以多方面之角度創作音樂;以樂曲而言,薩拉撒特以民謠或舞蹈音樂為基材創作而成的八首西班牙舞曲,的確最能適切的貼近西班牙人文風貌及藝術環境。
本論文將以薩拉撒特當時的社會背景與其生平為開端,舉例當代著名音樂家、樂評家以及音樂教育家對於薩拉撒特演奏的描述,再針對探討之主題《西班牙舞曲》作深入的介紹,概述西班牙舞曲之種類並做分析,切入以個人觀點為出發點之詮釋。由於樂曲中運用到為數不少之拉奏技巧,因此亦將技巧之統整以及練習方法列入探討範疇。期待依循上述之方向,能夠對於作曲家及其作品更加了解。
