  • 摘要
    席薇亞普萊斯的詩以及她的生平以和神秘的死亡的牽連迷住也困惑了諸多讀者及評論家。在她的一生當中曾三次試圖自殺,而在最後一次成功了,當時她才三十出頭。死亡的意像在她的作品中也幾乎在每篇詩裡都可發現。許多人因此認為,她的悲劇就是由於這些詩中的悲觀思緒引起的。然而,我認為根據作者的結局去論斷她的作品這樣的評論方式實不可取。因此我決定以精神分析的理論重新閱讀普萊斯的詩作。
    本篇論文將引用佛洛伊德的夢境理論檢視普萊斯詩中的潛意識語言。普萊斯使用的隱喻和明喻以看似奇異又不相關的影像和夢理論當中所提出的夢象徵有異曲同工之妙,以將潛意識扭曲的方式,寫出了她的創傷和死亡慾望,與此同時,她的本我和自我都得到滿足和保護,寫詩因此成了她平衡心靈的方式。
    除了夢境理論,本篇論文也運用了拉岡所提出的「談話治療」審閱普萊斯的詩。「談話治療」的主要論點在於被分析者可以「將事件放入文字」的方式來解除其症狀。此過程和夢工作也十分相像。在這樣的解讀下,我相信普萊斯一直以來都是以有「談話治療」性質的寫詩過程保持她的理智和創造力。以夢境理論和「談話治療」兩種理論來看普萊斯的詩,都能發現她的詩作並不是導致她自殺的原因,而是使她能在生活的壓力與痛苦中繼續清醒地創作下去的一種力量。
