在貝多芬( Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827)的鍵盤作品當中，鋼琴變奏曲是「三十二首鋼琴奏鳴曲」之外，作曲家最重要的創作形式之一。筆者認為《英雄》鋼琴變奏曲不論是在創作時間、創作手法、與主題的來源，都有其特別之處。以上三個原因吸引筆者對此變奏曲的注意與好奇；除此之外，如能藉由此次研究探討貝多芬和其所處的文化、時代背景之關係，加深自己對貝多芬音樂風格的了解，必能使筆者在詮釋鋼琴作品時能夠更多元、更具品味與說服力。
此篇詮釋報告將先概述此曲的創作背景、與樂曲內容特色，接著深入變奏曲的樂曲架構、與各變奏段落之分析，藉以探討其中之音樂內容。
