家族企業在台灣一直扮演著重要的經濟支柱,而對於台灣家族企業而言,最重要的議題之一無非是繼承問題,通常華人家族企業一向以父系繼承為原則,但隨著時代變遷和社會開放,有越來越多家族企業裡的女性參與經營,也從外帶入了女婿參與經營,若女婿選擇參與妻方家族企業,在妻家家族、企業經營權和企業所有權這三環又會如何互相影響?這之間最關鍵的影響因素又是甚麼?等問題是本研究旨要探討的,並透過多重個案研究的方式來深入瞭解台灣家族接班決策後的原因及所考量的因素。
透過多重個案研究來深度探討台灣前十大擁有女婿的家族企業後,發現女婿在妻家家族企業所扮演的角色傾向為企業代理人,而影響女婿在妻家家族企業經營權和所有權參與程度的最關鍵因素為家族是否擁有合適的男性接班人,若企業沒有適合的男性接班人,女婿在妻家家族企業經營權和所有權的參與程度接會增高,則反之亦然。
Family businesses have been playing an important role in Taiwan’s economic development. For family businesses in Taiwan, one of the most critical issues is succession. Usually, Asian family businesses follow the rule of father-to-son succession. However, with the belief changing, more and more female family members get involved in the family businesses and therefore bring in some resources including human resource like sons-in-law. If son-in-law decides to participate the family business, what will his position be in the family, business management, and business ownership? Besides, what will be the most significant factors that affect his involvement in his wife’s family business? This study will discuss above issues through case study method. Accordingly, we are able to figure out the trend of Taiwan family business succession and the reasons behind it.
After exploring top 10 Taiwan family businesses which consist of sons-in-laws by multiple case studies, we find that the roles of sons-in-law in family businesses tend to be business agents. Besides, the most critical factor that affects sons-in-law’s involvement is whether there are sons who are ready for succession. If there are no sons being ready for succession, then both sons-in-law’s business and ownership involvement in family businesses would be higher and vice versa.
