  • 本研究分析了1970~1990年代在臺灣西南部外海炸測的多頻道震測線約6000公里,發現位於臺灣西南海域的澎湖水道,大致上由老至新有三個不同系統的古河道沈積,而水道的發育則隨時間具有向西遷移的趨勢.澎湖水道的位置與沈積可能與臺灣的弧~陸碰撞狀造山運動有關,由於菲律賓板塊的持續碰撞造山急劇進行,使得古河道的沈積速率非常地快速,在過去的1.6Ma~2.0Ma以內,最大的沈積厚度可達四千~五千公尺左右,此表示臺灣的造山運動非常劇烈.而且,由古河道內數次的沈積與侵蝕現象,顯示臺灣島的上升運動並非持續不斷的.同時,若由現今的水道系統*(c3)位置與最老的水道系統(c1)位置相比較,可得到二者間變化的距離,再配合水道系統最早切蝕的時間,大致上,可以得知水道西遷的速率大約每年20公釐左右.

    Over 6000km of seismic reflection profiles collected from offshore southwestern Taiwan, three major channel systems can be identified. These channel systems show a trend of westward migration through time and the youngest channel systemis the present-day Penghu channel.The location of the Penghu channel depositsmight be related to the propagations of arc-continent collision front in Taiwan.The rapid sedimentation of the paleo-channel deposits implie that uplifting of the Taiwan mountain belt was very fast and the tectonic movement was very strong. From the seismic profiles, its reveal that about 4000~5000m thick sediments( about 3 seconds in two-way traveltime) have been deposited along sections ofpaleo-channel within last 1.6~2.0 million years. Several episoded of submarine channel erosions and depositions were observed within the thick paleo-channel deposits on seismic sections, which suggest that the uplift of Taiwan islandis intermittent. From the distance between oldest (c1) and youngest (c3) PenghuChannel System, we can find the westward migration rate of Penghu Cannel System is 20 mm per year.
