李斯特(Franz Liszt,1811-1886)為十九世紀最重要的音樂家之一。身為炫技名家，李斯特以出神入化的鋼琴技巧風靡全歐洲，將鋼琴演奏拓展至前所未有的境界，將鋼琴的表現力發揮得淋漓盡致，可說是有史以來，最偉大的鋼琴家之一。
本論文所探討的《B小調鋼琴奏鳴曲》(Piano Sonata in B Minor, 1852-1853)是李斯特唯一的鋼琴奏鳴曲，同時也是最具份量的鋼琴獨奏作品。對演奏者而言，此首長達半小時的作品除了富挑戰性的演奏技巧之外，樂曲中無窮的戲劇性張力與深刻的音樂內涵，更值得所有鋼琴演奏者仔細揣摩與玩味。尤其，李斯特在「奏鳴曲式」的完整結構之下，採取「主題變形」手法，使得各個樂段豐富多變又不失全曲的統一性。
本論文共分為四章，依序對《B小調鋼琴奏鳴曲》的創作背景、樂曲分析與演奏詮釋進行探討與研究。希望演奏時能結合理性的分析與感性的發揮與想像，以忠於作曲家的原意為前提，進而傳達出樂曲的內在意義。最後，再以第四章的結論為全文做各面向的總結與歸納，並再次強調演奏《B小調鋼琴奏鳴曲》時須留意的重點與要領。
