位方式。量詞組移位時，必須移經過包含此量詞組的詞彙範疇的指示語位
置，而疑問詞組則不須移經過此一指示語位置。研究結果顯示，此種區分
能合理解釋量詞─量詞及量詞─疑問詞間的互動關係。

This thesis examines the properties of Mandarin zhi 'only'. It
is shown that zhi must be associated with a clausemate lexical
element in its c-commanding domain at S-structure. In addition,
it is suggested that zhi occurs in the Spec of a [-N] category.
Finally, a distinction between QPs and wh-elements is made in
terms of their movement strategies. QPs must move step by step
through the Spec of XP containing it, whereas wh-elements can
move directly to the Spec of CP or move cyclically via
adjuction without proceeding through the Spec of XP containing
it. It will be shown that such a distinction between QPs and wh-
elements can account for the scopal interpretation in cases
concerning quantifier-quantifier interactions and wh-quantifier
interactions.
