This study developed and evaluated a mobile online peer assessment system based on jQuery and PHP. The system was coded in jQuery and PHP using 3-tier architecture. The system was installed on Apache web server and used MariaDB as system database. In order to understand the usability of this system, this study invited 29 seventh-grade students to conduct a peer assessment via this system on tablet PC and evaluate the system usability by the System Usability Scale (SUS). The results suggest that this system has a good usability for students conducting peer assessment on tablet PC, and could be introduced in the courses with peer assessment. The suggestions for instructional implementations and future research are also provided.
