本研究目的在於探討社區民眾資源回收信念及從事資源回收之行為意圖，並運用Ajzen 和Fishbein(1980)的理性行動理論（Theory of Reasoned Action）及Bandura社會學習理論的自我效能(Self-efficacy)為研究架構，以預測並解釋研究對象從事資源回收的行為意圖，同時驗證理性行動理論與自我效能應用在資源回收行為上的適切性。
本研究為採家庭訪視之問卷調查法，依據台北市資源回收量成長率及回收率高低選取五個行政區，再抽取該區每人平均回收量之高、中、低各四個里，共立意取樣600戶為研究樣本。
本研究結果歸納如下：
一、研究對象對從今以後從事家中資源回收，有回收意圖者佔絕大部分（86.2%），其中又以寶特瓶的回收意圖最高（87.0%），其次為紙類（83.7%）、鐵罐（77.3%）、鋁罐（77.2%）；而無回收意圖者僅佔4.8%；中立意見者佔9.0%。
二、研究對象從事資源回收之行為意圖與態度、主觀規範及自我效能呈現顯著正相關，即態度、主觀規範愈正向、及自我效能愈強，從事資源回收之行為意圖愈強。資源回收行為意圖可以由態度、主觀規範及自我效能來預測，解釋量為34.1%。
三、研究對象對於從事資源回收之態度與行為信念及結果評價的交乘積和呈顯著正相關；且從事資源回收之主觀規範與規範信念及依從動機的交乘積和也呈現顯著正相關。
四、有/無資源回收意圖之研究對象在行為信念、結果評價、規範信念、依從動機、自我效能及環境認知上，均有整體性之顯著差異。
五、高/低回收量里之研究對象在自我效能呈現顯著差異；家中有/無就學人口之研究對象在行為意圖也呈現顯著差異。
六、外在變項之性別、年齡、就學人口、資源回收經驗等四個變項能有限度地直接影響研究對象從事資源回收之行為意圖，尤以資源回收經驗之影響力最大。
七、研究結果支持理性行動理論整合社會學習理論之自我效能應用於預測從事資源回收之行為意圖。

The main purpose of this study was to investigate and predict community residents' beliefs and behavioral intention of resources recycling in Taipei city. The research framework was on the basis of the Theory of Reasoned Action of Ajzen and Fishbein(1980) and the Self-efficacy of Bandura's Social Learning Theory.
The sample was selected from the residents of Taipei city in terms of the various levels of recycling rates. The method adopted in this study was questionnaire interview. The main findings of this study were as follows:
1. Around eighty-six percent of residents showed the positive behavioral intention for recycling, especially for the bottles of PET; about five percent of residents showed negative intention.
2. The attitude, subjective norm and self-efficacy toward recycling could effectively predict the recycling intention of residents, and the explanation power of variance was 34.1%.
1. The attitude of residents' recycling were significantly positively related to the product of behavioral beliefs multiplied by evaluations of outcomes(SBi＊Ei). Also, the subjective norm of residents' recycling were also significantly positively related to the product of normative beliefs multiplied by motivations to comply(SNBj＊MCj).
4. There were significant differences in behavioral beliefs, evaluations of outcomes, normative beliefs, motivations to comply, self-efficacy and environmental knowledge between recycling intenders and non-intenders.
5. There was a significant difference in self-efficacy between residents of high and low recycling rate. There was a significant difference in behavioral intention between residents of having school children and those without school children.
6. The variables of gender, age, having school children, recycling experience could limitedly affect the behavioral intention of recycling.
7. The results of this study supported the framework, an integration of Theory of Reasoned Action and self-efficacy.
