本研究旨在探討雙親家庭獨生女與父母的心理分離,並探究影響雙親家庭獨生女與父母分離之因素,希望透過生命故事的敘說,與研究者的理解與詮釋來了解雙親家庭獨生女的分離經驗。本研究採質性研究中的敘說研究法來進行資料蒐集與分析。本研究透過立意取樣邀請三位雙親家庭獨生女,採用半結構式訪談大綱進行深度訪談。本研究將訪談內容被轉錄成逐字稿,以第一人稱撰寫成研究參與者的生命故事,並用「整體-內容」的方式進行分析。
本研究發現三位研究參與者與父母分離之心理狀況演變分別為:「從被迫獨立到找回父母的信任」、「配合父母的忙碌享受自主的生活到開始牽掛父母」和「從既親密又想逃到停下想逃的腳步尋找自我與家庭的平衡」,並從研究參與者的文本中整理出以下四個主題進行討論:獨生女角色的獨特性、分離始於親子關係中的感受、對父母行為的理解是調整關係的契機、親子關係是分離時的責任也是牽掛、分離的發展-在一次次的離合中尋找自己在關係中最舒適的位置。此外,本研究也發現以下五項影響分離的因素:不穩定的父母關係、未能滿足依賴需求的親子關係、高管束的教養方式、離家帶來的空間分離和父母以外的人際支持系統。最後,研究者根據上述研究結果與發現進行討論,並針對雙親家庭獨生女、心理專業人員與未來的研究者提出建議。
The purpose of this study is to understand the experience of psychological separation of only daughters from two-parent families and to find out what would affect the separation process of only daughters. To further understand the participants’ subjective experience and reality, the study adopted narrative research approach. By using purposive sampling, three only daughters from two-parent families were invited to participant in the research. In order to understand the unique stories from the participants, a semi-structural questionnaire was used to conduct in-depth interviews. After transcribing the interview content, life stories of these three participants were stated with a first-person narrator, and analyzed via the holistic-content approach based on narrative research.
The research found that there are different psychological status of three participants as below: (1) from being forced to be independent to learning to trust her parents again (2) from enjoying playing on one’s own to keep up with busy-working parents to always having parents on her mind (3) from being intimate but still wanting to get away from her parents to standing still and trying to find the balance between I and family. Based on these psychological status, there are five topics discussed: (1) the uniqueness of only daughters (2) separation process began with the feedback getting from the parent-child relationship (3) a new understanding of parent behavior would be an opportunity to mend the relationship between only daughters and parents (4) parent-child relationship is both a concern and a responsibility when pursuing individuality (5) the development of separation is not getting away from parents but by repeatedly moving toward and against to the parents, only daughters from two-parent families could find a comfortable distance form their families. Besides, following factors were found to affect the separate process of only daughters: (1) an unstable parental relationship (2) a parent-child relationship that is not able to meet the need for dependence of child (3) highly controlling parenting style (4) space separation from leaving home (5) interpersonal supporting system other than parents.
Based on the results, some suggestions are provided for only daughters from two-parent families, parents of only daughters, professional helpers and future researchers.
