This study focuses on the pharmaceutical industry to explore how companies cope with environmental changes and industry complexity, and how they strengthen their competitive advantage through establishing different cooperative patterns. By analyzing the ways of collaboration and management mechanisms, this research delves into how multiple cooperative balance with existing resources, aiming to understand the strategic implications of collaboration for enhancing competitive advantage. To collect data on the collaboration experiences of case companies, this study selects one of the top ten pharmaceutical companies in Taiwan as case studies and conducts in-depth interviews with senior executives. The triangulation method is employed to enhance the credibility of the research and the authenticity of the results. Unlike previous studies based on a single strategic theory, this research adopts a multifaceted approach to investigate various strategic activities of enterprises in collaboration, understanding how the dynamic learning ability, leveraging core competencies, and leadership stability of case companies contribute to more effective collaboration outcomes. The analysis of multiple cooperative patterns emphasizes that companies establish crucial foundations through collaboration in intangible assets (such as technological patents and drug licenses) and business territories (markets and operations), facilitating successful entry into new markets. This diversified collaboration not only enhances market position but also strengthens the overall industry's competitive advantage. The research results underscore a positive correlation between dynamic collaboration capability, competitive advantage, and collaboration effectiveness. Through dynamic collaboration, companies strengthen their industry's competitive advantage by building a solid collaborative foundation and enhancing trust.
The close connection with partners helps establish a stable collaborative foundation, increase trust, and further strengthen collaboration effectiveness. In summary, several findings emerge from this study: first, dynamic adjustment capability is crucial for companies to establish collaborative relationships; second, multiple cooperation, if complementary in resources, contributes to establishing advantages; third, the incremental collaboration of enterprises prompts them to gain internal management resources leverage, thereby enhancing the advantages brought by collaborative resources. This study provides practical insights for local small and medium-sized pharmaceutical companies or other industries, aiding in the formulation of more effective collaboration strategies, and emphasizes the key role of dynamic collaboration capability in corporate competition.
