Previous studies in human resource field used to consider job satisfaction as an important variable to measure employee engagement. However, much focus has been given to job satisfaction with working environment or many other external reasons. Recently, some researchers have paid attention to employees’ well-being and individual engagement, they explored the relationship between well-being and job performance show that employees who have positive emotion and positive work attitude are more likely to interpret organizational context positively and therefore show a better job performance. Thus, this study aims to understand the relationships among personal engagement, well-being, and job performance.

A total of 175 questionnaires were collected, and 172 questionnaires were valid. The results showed that personal engagement was positive related to well-being and job performance. Furthermore, well-being showed complete or partial mediating effect on the relationship between the sub-dimensions of personal engagement and job performance.

The results indicated that well-being plays a critical role between personal engagement and job performance. When employees engaged themselves more at work, their job performance also improved via increasing well-being.
