This study mainly explored whether the emotional regulation has a mediating effect between parental attachment and experience of solitude. 508 college students in Taiwan finished the online questionnaires. The questionnaires included three scales, named “Relationships Structures Questionnaire-Chinese,” “Emotional Regulation Scale,” “Experience of Solitude Scale” and a survey for demographic information. Descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation and structural equation modeling were used for data analysis. The results of this study were listed as follows: (1) cognitive reappraisal completely mediates attachment avoidance and positive experience of solitude experience; (2) cognitive reappraisal completely mediates attachment avoidance and negative affective of solitude experience; (3) attachment anxiety directly and positively affects negative affective of solitude experience. Results and implications for future research and counselor were discussed.
