戈登.雅各(Gordon Jacob, 1895-1984),是英國二十世紀的作曲家。他雖身處於不受調性規範、不受傳統框架限制的時代,然而雅各仍保留古典風格的創作手法,例如 : 他的音樂具有調性、作曲架構明確且富含優美的旋律。他將古典風格的音樂與新的音樂理念相互結合,擁有個人創作思維,創作出屬於自己風格的作品。本論文之目的為研究戈登‧雅各的《給長笛和弦樂團協奏曲》(Concerto for Flute and Strings),探討其生平以及創作風格,並進行樂曲分析以及提出詮釋建議。
本文可分為五個章節,第一章為緒論,說明本論文之研究動機與研究範圍,並提出文獻探討作為參考的依據;第二章為作曲家戈登‧雅各的生平及創作風格,了解時代背景與其創作理念;第三章為樂曲分析,並理解戈登‧雅各的創作手法;第四章則是針對《給長笛和弦樂團協奏曲》(Concerto for Flute and Strings),其中節奏、旋律、力度、表情符號、術語、鋼琴合作等來進行四個樂章的演奏詮釋;第五章為結論。
Gordon Jacob (1895-1984) was a British composer in the Twentieth Century. Although he lived in an era where most composers moved away from tonality and traditional structures, Jacob retained a compositional style of Classicism. For instance, his music is tonal, has clear structure, and is full of beautiful melodies. His composition style combines musical elements of the Classical period with new concepts of the Twentieth Century. The purpose of this thesis is to study the historical background of the composer as well as his composition style and to provide a music analysis and suggestions of musical interpretation for Gordon Jacob's Concerto for Flute and Strings.
This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, delivering the motivation as well as the scope of the research, and providing literature review as reference. The second chapter presents the life and composition style of the composer, Gordon Jacob, to investigate his philosophy of composition and the background at that time. The third chapter is music analysis, trying to analyze the composer’s composition method. The fourth chapter suggests the musical interpretation for “Concerto for the Flute and String Orchestra”, including the rhythm, melody, dynamics, emotions, musical terms and the piano accompaniment throughout the whole piece. The last chapter is the conclusion.
