Thirty sampling plots with 1 square meter were set in Yangmingshan National Park, Taiwan which included (1) twenty at Luchiukeng broad-leaved forest Nature Reserve, (2) five at Hsiaoyukeng Silvergrass vegetation, and (3) five at Usawa cane vegetation. Soil samples were collected every two months from October 2000 to August 2001. Some isolates of dictyostelid cellular slime molds (dCSMs) were obtained. They were identified as six species, two genera and one family, namely:Dictyostelium brefeldianum Hagiwara, D. delicatum Hagiwara, D. pupureum Olive, D. rhizopodium Raper et Fennell, Polysphondylium pallidum Olive, and P. violaceum Brefeld. Luchiukeng broad-leaved forest had all the six species of dCSMs and was more than the other two vegetation. The slime molds in this forest occurred most frequently on August. The occurrence frequency of dCSMs varied in different seasons-- higher in summer and lower in winter. The distribution of dCSMs in this area was also influenced by the pH value of soils. The lowest pH was 3.8 in Usawa cane vegetation which had lower occurrence frequency of dCSMs. P. pallidum Olive was the most common dCSM in the three vegetation and less variation in seasons.
