本論文探討主題為貝多芬以歌德詩為詞,所創作的數首德文藝術歌曲。為了兼顧詮 釋需要,本論文只探討男性所能演唱之曲目。另外,為了男中音演唱方便,將部分音域 較高之曲目做適度移調。
貝多芬和歌德,在音樂和文學領域均各享有盛名,但是討論兩者之藝文創作交集的 資料卻不常見,本論文希望能適度彌補這項缺憾,如第一章所述,這是本論文主要之研 究動機。另外,為了了解兩人身處之年代以便與其創作風格相互驗證,本論文在第二章 簡單地介紹「古典主義音樂」與「狂飆突進運動」。歌德的生平要事記述於第三章,並 因本論文選用的藝術歌曲主題多為愛情,所以特別介紹歌德與女性的關係。同上,本論 文在第四章介紹貝多芬的生平,先以宏觀的方式介紹貝多芬一生的創作,然後再細述他 對於德文藝術歌曲的貢獻。第五章是本論文的重點,本論文首先條列貝多芬以歌德作品 創作的所有音樂作品,再介紹兩人在 1812 年夏天會面的經過,然後分析數首藝術歌曲, 提供中文翻譯以及詮釋心得。最末章是結論,總結本論文內容,以及本人研究貝多芬藝 術歌曲之後所得到的想法,以及對後續研究的建議。
The main purpose of this thesis is to study some of Beethoven’s lieder, which are based on Goethe’s poems. In order to undertake a thorough study, only lieder for male voice are selected and some of them are transposed into Baritone’ s vocal range.
Beethoven and Goethe are famous in fields of music and literature, respectively. However, studies duscussing their crossed paths are relatively rare and as illustrated in Chapter 1, the main motivation of this thesis is to compensate such regret. The introduction of music in Classical Period and Sturm und Drang movement are listed in Chapter 2. These two thinkings dominate Beethoven and Goethe’s thought and can be seen in their works. A short introduction of Goethe’s life is introduced in Chapter 3, and his relationships with females are highlighted since the lieder, which are going to be studided, are generally in themes of love. Beethoven’s brief biography is also presented in Chapter 4. His works will be discussed from top-down and divided into three periods chronologically and we will focus on his lieder. The main forcus of the research is in Chapter 5, where the full list of works of Beethoven in Goethe is presented, and their physical assemble in 1812 is also stated later. Moreover, the analysis and interpretation of selected lieder and translations are provided. Last but not the least, in Chapter 6, the summary and personal experiences are presented and the future works are also indicated.
