Library website is an extension of a library service, which plays an important bridge of communication between the library and readers. The quality of the label designin a library websitewill affect the user on acquiringaccurate and valid information. Therefore, this study took all of the Taiwan’s university libraries’ website labels for study case. In this study, researchers constructedthe library website labels thesaurus, and controlledthe vocabulary of the labels and the relations of semantic in order to help the users get more clearly understand to the website labels, and thus enhance the efficiency of finding information.
This research is investigated in three stages, the first stage is the investigation of bottom label recognizationwhich is aimed atrealizingthe differencesof website recognization among library employees, researchers and general users. The second stageis for the researchers, who set up website label thesaurus in order to build the connection between the library website labels. The third stage is the experiment of cards sorting for general users. Using website label thesaurus to assist the users in conducting the cards sorting experiment. In the end, the research compares the findability with assistance from thesaurus oflabel teams, which are picked up by three identification through the experiment results.
The study shown that website label thesaurus can not onlyprovide users with better understanding of the labels but alsoenhance users’ confidence when they were conducting card sorting tests. The results of the experimentalso indicated thatthe label team which is chosen from the general users presentedthe best findability by taking the thesaurus for sorting reference.
